DGC 2022

October 30, 2022 @ 7:00 am - 4:30 pm

Greetings to everyone in the name of our Lord!

The Indian Orthodox Diaspora (IOD) welcomes you to the Delhi Gospel Convention 2022 after a gap of two years. The annual English convention event of the Diocese of Delhi  opens up a rare opportunity to interact, introspect and meditate on the word of God through sessions  by prolific speakers of the Orthodox Faith from across the world. The day-long Delhi Gospel Convention this year will be held on October 30 at St. Stephen’s Orthodox Church, Dilshad Garden, East Delhi.

This year, we are fortunate to have Rev. Fr. Kyrillos Ghabriel, a priest of the Coptic Orthodox Church currently working in Punjab as our main speaker for Delhi Gospel Convention. Fr. Kyrillos is specialised in youth ministry and is an excellent orator, spiritual leader and mentor of young minds. He was born and brought up in Egypt before taking up his international assignement. He has also served in Namibia in a Coptic Mission Centre before coming to India.

As a Deacon, he was a volunteer working with Children in a Catholic orphanage in Merut, Uttar Pradesh. He was ordained to priesthood by His Holiness Pope Tawadros in 2020.  Fr. Kyrillos Ghabriel will be accompanied by his wife Marina, who is a trained counsellor and specialises in giving spiritual guidance to students and teenage girls. She is also slated to address the audience during the Delhi Gospel Convention 2022.

This year’s DGC is based on the theme ‘Spread the Light’ from Philippians 2:15. The theme holds special significance for each Christian is called upon to be a light to the world and we celebrate this year’s DGC right after the festival of light ‘Deepawali’.

“I would urge all members, especially those who are not familiar with Malayalam, to please attend these session so as to gain better understanding of the Orthodox faith and practices,” writes His Grace Youhanon Mar Demetrios, Delhi Metropolitan and President of Indian Orthodox Diaspora in his Kalpana dated 11th October, 2022 issued to parishes in the diocese.

For those who have been part of DGC in the past would recall that unlike other Conventions in the Church, DGC offers a unique platform for participants to listen, learn and ask their queries from the resource person, thus providing a dialogue to facilitate understanding of the Gospel.

Our Diocesan Metropolitan His Grace Dr. Youhanon Mar Demetrios will also be with us at the Convention punctuating the Convention with his thoughtful speeches and scholarly interventions.

We at the IOD will be happy to receive you with family on that day. So let us join together, block our dates, and make a resolve to be part of the DGC this year.

You may please register yourself on www.dgc.indianorthodoxdiaspora.org or contact us at the given numbers/e-mail id for any queries or lodging your interest to DGC 2022 convenor’s: Santosh (09810206326), Shijo Mammen K (092052 02559), or email us on indian.orthodox.diaspora@gmail.com

So, let’s prayerfully come together and “Spread the Light”

St Stephen’s Orthodox Church, the host parish awaits you on Sunday, 30th Oct’22. We begin soon after partaking together in the Holy Qurbana. See you all at DGC 2022.
